Coach Phil
Description: Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States. Pickleball combines the rules and fundamentals of ping pong, tennis, and badminton. It is played with a paddle and hard plastic ball with a tennis-type net on a badminton-sized court. Classes will include instruction in technique, tactics and strategy plus game play. The sport is a fun and great workout for all ages and abilities. Come join the Pickleball movement to learn the game or improve your skills.

Participants should be prepared to play with court shoes, hat, sunscreen, water, and a paddle.

Please sign up for the class that meets your playing ability. This policy is best for you, your classmates and the instructor. If classes are full, join the waitlist and Hingham Recreation will determine if additional classes can be added.

This program is for players who understand the game and are ready to take their play to the next level. The goal of the class is to focus on skills refinement of your dinks, ground strokes, volleys and drops for accuracy, height and pace. You will work on your serve for consistency, depth and positioning. Game play will include coaching on tactics, positioning and game strategy.

Qualified participants should know the rules, how to keep score, and how to serve and return. They can play a full court game and get balls back over the net for 2 or 3 shots but need to work on finishing the point. Players can get their serve in but need to work on consistency and accuracy.
